CITY BRAND: CONCORD
For my tourism rebrand, I selected Concord, NC because it’s not only my birthplace, but symbolic of my family’s history. My maternal grandfather, Marvin Eury, was a well-known reporter for The Daily Independent and managing editor from 1970-1982. Older residents of Concord said he was a central figure in the city, keeping readers updated on local stories and various events. My concept emphasized the charm of Concord’s history while touting its future. The key element is a timeline, the progression between old and new that was indicative of its roots while acknowledging the city’s transformation into the present day. Imagery of old Downtown Concord and Cabarrus Museum to newer developments like Concord Mills and NASCAR were important to the visual depiction in my new brand identity.
